What a lovely weather we have.
Can't complain! On very hot days I do things early morning or early evening. During the hot hours I relax with reading or puzzling.
I did a simple puzzle that was done in one afternoon. I ran out of puzzles but got very lucky.
I went to the library to pick up books I ordered and get a book about Art Quilting. The lady behind the desk and I got talking about quilting and she mentioned that there may be a group I could join to learn quilting. So cool! She made a note and will call me when she knows more.
Then she mentioned that there was a sale in the library, and she took me to the end of the building and wow...I found lots of puzzles there. Very expensive though: 10 cents each! Hahaha! Amazing. So I bought 5. I'm good for a while now.
I started with Art. A 1000 piece puzzle with lots of animals and birds. Not easy but that's good.
The caterpillars are as good as gone. Now it's time to remove all the cocoons around the yard. I'm happy not to have to take the caterpillars out of my plants anymore. :)
Last Saturday Paul came over to bring Sammy here. She will stay with me. It is so much better for her because at home she was alone too much with Paul working.
We put the mesh upper of the large dog kennel. Sheri had helped before with putting the frame up. The dog house is inside the kennel and it's put a folding table in front of it so rain can't blow in. Sammy limes her kennel and goes inside when I ask. It's important to keep her safe for predators at night. She's not big enough to defend herself. During the day she is out.
Paul was so kind to mow my yard. Thank you Paul. It looks awesome! :)
My cats don't like Sammy because Sammy chases them. Not a good thing. My cats avoid the cabin and I feed them at the arena.
The first time I went for our evening walk, the cats didn't come.
The second time, Taz started to follow Scruffy and I put Sammy on her leash. The cats all followed with big distance. But they came! Sammy is good on the leash and the cats are getting more brave on our evening walks. I hope in a few weeks they will be used to each other. I'm so happy that the routine of our evening walks is helping. I think the cats were like: ok you monster. Don't think you can keep us from our walk! Hahaha.
Wild flowers are blooming everywhere. So nice!
The beans in the hay garden finally popping up. Potatoes and onions are growing so well. I'm glad that the hay garden is doing good.
The other gardens are doing good but I have trouble with certain vegetables. They don't grow or get eaten by probably squirrels. They seem to like the new fresh leaves. So that's a bummer. Corn and beans , tomatoes and pumpkins are doing really well. Peas are amazing. I had to put more strings up because they grow high now.
Hummingbirds are flying around, waiting for flowers to bloom. Red Robins are nesting again and I enjoy their beautiful singing.
Two swallows build a nest under the overhang above the deck. It will be so much fun to see babies! I can see the nest from my kitchen window. It's so much fun to see them flying back and forth to make their nest strong. Lovely! Plus they eat bugs! :)
Yentl is done with halter training. In total it only took around two hours spread out in short sessions over two weeks. Not bad! And all done with positive reinforcement. No force and she was always at liberty and could leave if she wanted to. She never did though. :)
She is such a sweetheart and loves to work with me. I'm very happy with the result. She comes to me and put her head low and her nose into the halter. She stands quiet when I fasten the halter and put her head low again when I take it off. Just perfect.
So now we move on to leading. Very exciting! :)
