I just put hay in the arena when the horses suddenly looked at the driveway. I followed their look and saw a black wolf coming up the driveway in a steady pace. I checked where Scruffy was and she was in the yard where the wolf could see her. Scruffy didn't notice the wolf. Well, it's not flying so for not much interest to her.
I got fast oyt tbe arena and grabbed my pitch fork and started yelling and waving the pitch fork towards the wolf who was getting way too close to the pen behind the arena. I startled him and he turned around and took off. Whew! quite the adventure so early in the morning. Unfortunately no pictures. I got Scruffy in the cabin which took some effort. She caught the smell of the wolf and started to follow the tracks. Being it so cold she turned around and came back. She's a little deaf so calling her did not do much. I was for once happy she got cold feet .
Yesterday Paul came to visit. I didn't like him to drive here though because it was awful weather with snow and blowing snow that cause huge snow drifts. The roads were just bad.
He made it safe here and we had a lovely time.
He left before dark, a little worried about the road conditions.
Well, he called after 45 minutes. He blew 2 tires on his car. He drove over a snow drift and underneath there was frozen mud. That did it. He was close to town so he called a friend and the tow truck. I was so happy he was ok! I said next time stay home when the weather is bad.
Kids huh?:)
Here some pictures of the snow storm, sky clearing up , Scruffy with snowy face, the wolf tracks, yard birds at a feeder and the horses this morning, warming up in the sun after their breakfast. :-)
Oh and on the stove macaroni with veggies and a home made apple pie.
