Some more good news! I found a handyman. YAY! His name is Dave and he is willing to help me out with building the cabin. He will guide my helpers and me through the whole building process, which will be his role during the project. He already gave me some advice in how to make the cabin stronger then in the original plans, and he will make a well thought over material list. I got one, but it has to be adjusted because of the bigger size of my cabin. As soon this snow storm, that is coming in tonight, is over, and the snow is all melted again (we expect 10-15 cm of snow) I will show Dave the building site. Dave, Paul and I talked about what I would need and where and how to start. Especially my grey water had our attention in this first meeting, as also the rafters and the floor.
During the summer I would like to catch my grey water and use it, after having it filtered, for garden and brush/trees. Why waste good water huh? It’s just from the shower, sinks and washing machine and I will only use nature friendly / organic/ biodegradable soaps. But during the winter months this is not possible. Outgoing drain pipes will freeze up, so then it’s better to get pipes that will bring the grey water towards a catching tank.
Now I’m waiting for the adjusted material list from Dave, so I can order it. Anyway, it was a great meeting. Now I just like to have back the warm days we just had. Winter has a hard job to say goodbye this year.
I've seen a lot of geese already in the past few weeks and a few days ago I saw the first Red Robins in town. They will NOT like the winter weather that is coming in. Poor birds. I'm sure they wish they had left a little later from the warm south.
