It’s the 4th of the 4th month in 2014. 4 is my favourite number. So it’s a good day to blog some good news. I have made my decision on what kind of cabin I’m going to get. It was very interesting to go through all the options of choosing between different buildings like a mobile home, a garage package, a metal building or move an existing cabin. I asked for several quotes at 3 different building stores for different sizes of garage packages. Some stores would let me wait SO long, and for the second quote requests some even never came back to me. So I felt a little frustrated to be honest. Same thing with trying to get a handyman that wanted to build for me, with help of my son, myself and friends. They would be very expensive (like contractor prices while I only asked for a handyman) or some would just never get back to me. I got tired of being so dependent of these building stores and people to build it for me. Then it just came to me: go back to the first idea of the little solar cabin and build it yourself!! It’s enough with the waiting and negotiating! So I go back to the little solar cabin with the loft. And even if I have to build it all by myself with my bare hands, I don’t care. I will build it! I can be very persistent when I have a goal in mind. LOLBut I'm very lucky and grateful to have Paul to help and wonderful friends. I found this cabin model a few years ago online and Ron and I were planning to build this one ourselves that time. The reason I started to look around was to see if there would be any better options for a cabin. But this little cabin seems to come back as my best option. I suppose it is meant to be. Once I made my decision to go back to the original plan, I felt very happy and also relieved. It’s going to happen! YAY! The original plans are for a 14 feet x 14 feet cabin. I will make a little larger one, 14 feet x 28 feet. Twice as long and that way it will have 2 lofts. There is plenty of room at the main floor for a bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen with dining table. The lofts are great for 2 more bedrooms. It will have enough space for what I need. It is SO exiting! I’m going to take the material list and get quotes for that. Then order the stuff. Building will start second weekend of May. (weather permitted of course) YAY! We got a date. Before that date the ground will be levelled of course and the canvas garage in a box will be set up. We need a space to work and keep our tools dry. Later I will use that as my actually garage for my truck during winter. Here is a picture of the 14 x 14 solar cabin. If you like to see how it is build, just go to youtube and type in search Lamar Solar Cabin. It will come up. Mine will just be twice as long. Isn’t it the cutest? :-
