Yay!
It is time to start seeding indoors. So much fun!
I started: tomatoes, pumpkin , water melon , red and white cabbage, egg plant ,celery, leek ,pepper, squash, Romanesco broccoli, red scarlet runner bean and plum trees also from seeds. Not sure if that will work. Have to find out. :)
The herbs are : parsley, sage ,lovage ,chamomile, sweet basil , summer savory. Other herbs and vegetables I can start once the ground can be worked on. The cabin is now filled with lots of seedling containers. Hahaha. So much fun!
Yentl settled in very well. She is friends with Flicka and Freya. She's a brave little horse! Not much scares her. Just with people she is cautious.
When I was giving Flicka and Freya a horse crunchy, she took one from my hand. She knew by watching the other two that is was something good. Flicka and Freya really are a great help in the trusting process. She feels and sees they are very comfortable with me and she becomes more and more relaxed around me.
I started clicker training with her. She did awesome with targeting.
Ladt night I went for my evening walk and she followed a long time alongside the fence. On my way back she was eating hay and I talked to her. She came to the fence and for the first time I could pet her forehead. So awesome!
She is progressing so fast. She could end up into a in your pocket pony. Hahaha.
She was even bossing the other two around and kicking because she wanted my attention all to herself. Not that they were very impressed by her behavior. Hahaha.
It's so much fun to work with Yentl in short sessions. Between doing my chores I go to the arena when the horses come in and play a bit or just sit and talk with the horses.
Im sure Yentl is chased and pushed a lot in her past. She will learn I will never do that. I leave it up to her how far she wants to go.
Her feet are very long but I hope within 3 months to be able to get her trimmed.
The cats are back to mouse hunting. Snow is melting so fast so mice are moving around more.
The weather is gorgeous the past few days. Spring is really here now .
I have seen lots of duck flying over the yard and a grey heron and a big flock of pelicans too!
Bald eagles come in the yard pretty often too. They fly very low and its a beautiful sight.
With the warmer weather and snow melting , the driveway has some huge puddles. Little lakes. Hahaha.
In the small pasture a little lake has formed and the horses seem to like it.
I saw the skunk again yesterday morning. He was walking out of the woods and when he wanted to go on to the driveway, he suddenly noticed the 3 horses. Hahaha, he turned around so fast and ran off back in the woods with his tail straight up. Funny.
It's lovely to sit on my deck again in early evening with a glass of wine, just listening to the birds and watching my little herd of horses in the pasture .
I feel so happy and very lucky! :)
