I start with the sad news I heard yesterday from Paul. His best friends parents were in a terrible car accident. I don’t know more at this time, as Paul is still in Regina to help and comfort Kevin, who flew back from Edmonton, where he goes to the university. Paul went to pick him up from the airport.
Kevin, my thoughts are with you!
We had another cold spell. The wind chill went down to minus 45 c! Yes, this is a real Canadian winter for sure. But...I enjoyed it so much and still spend as much time outside as possible. Splitting wood, cleaning up the round pen from manure, short walks......it was wonderful to be outside in the sunshine. Of course every half hour or hour I had to go back in to warm up my feet or hands. One or the other always cools off. But once warmed up I went outside again. The fresh air, time with my horses and stacking the split logs....just LOVE it!
Last weekend Carol came over for a visit. She brought all kinds of goodies with some that went really well together with my home made soup. We fed the horses together, had a nice coffee and talked a lot. We had so many laughs and supper was so great. Thank you Carol, for the goodies and your lovely company. Always fun to spend time with you.
Paul came over too in the weekend to help me get the bottles of water in the cabin. It was that time again to go to the well. We had supper together and talked until he had to go home again. Thanks for your help again Paul! You’re such a sweetheart!
Monday afternoon Sheri and I went to Yorkton. I didn’t need much, but it was a very fun trip. We had lunch and after we both were SO full! We talked and laughed and had a great time.
I got a mineral block and some beet pulp for the horses. I noticed that Flicka didn’t drink as much as Freya does, and because beet pulp has to soak before feeding it to horses, I hope it will help Flicka to stay hydrated. It sure helps, because now she seems to drink more often and more. So somehow it has a great effect on her.
Ben came over this weekend too and he cut down some dead standing trees in the back of my yard. Thanks Ben, for cutting the wood!
We will have lots of wood , Sheri, Ben and I, for this winter.
I split the logs in half, and then put them on the deck.
YAY! Free wood!
