This morning I left early to LPine Meadow. It promised to be a beautiful day with a nice 22 C, sunny and a light breeze. A perfect day for gardening! The crew wasn’t coming today, so it would be quiet and peaceful. I had Scruffy with me, but also took two of my four cats, Taz and her kitten Dizzy. That way I didn’t have to worry about Dizzy being ‘bad’ at home when I’m not around. She’s almost 6 months old and has lots of energy. Well, today she could release all that energy. And she did. Running in the yard after butterflies and flies and other bugs, running in the woods, climbing trees, climbing all over the truck, and checking out everything in the yard. Taz was also active but most of the time she was just laying in the shade, resting. Sometimes Dizzy seemed to be lost. I would hear her calling from the woods. Then I would call her name and she would come running to me. So cute! I’m glad she always comes when I call her. The cats liked to stay close to Scruffy. For them the dog is a safety spot. I started to work on the new garden. Took all the dead weeds out and then filled it with peat moss and garden soil. Then I put in the water melon, spaghetti squash, cucumber, zuccini, onions and at the back I put in sunflowers. It will be a beautiful garden once everything will be in bloom. I had a break, enjoying the sounds of the birds and squirrels and ate my fresh made fruit and vegetable sauce. After lunch I wanted to start the flower garden. For now I made it at the corner of the back part of the yard. I know that next year I will have to thin this garden out again because I put in too many plants. They will be growing into each other in time. But for now it’s fine. At least al my flowers are planted now. Many different kinds and it will be so colourful when they bloom. Time went by so fast and suddenly I noticed it was clouding over. I know we would get rain in the evening and I could feel the change in the air already. I cleaned everything up, put the cats in their kennels again and in the truck. Scruffy also got in the truck. Only one thing to do before going home and that was setting the mouse traps. I had 3 good one that are easy to set. I had put some bait on them, a little bit of the fruit sauce. I set the traps, put buckets over them, and then went home. When I drove to the acreage in the morning, both cats were so upset and only after 15 minutes driving they were calmed down a bit. Going home now, hardly a sound. Both were totally exhausted. Dizzy tried to keep her eyes open during the drive, but it wasn’t easy. Hahaha! When I came home, I brought the cats into the spare room and let them out of the kennels. I gave them water and food, and let them sleep. Not one sound I heard for hours, and when I did let them out to play.....they were both still so tired that they just fell asleep again in the living room. LOL
