I'm able to do my blog at my neighbours house today. Thanks Sheri! Really kind of you. :-)
Well, the snow didn’t stay for long. All melted away again.
We did get a good frost of minus 5 C last night. The horses water bowl had a couple of centimeters of ice on it. Took me some muscles to break that. I took the ice out and it won’t be as bad tomorrow, as the temperatures are going up.
The sun is out too! YAY! Finally. I got dreary from the cloudiness. A week without sunlight is just too much.
My solar lights can charge again. I was using my battery operated lights for a couple of days. It works but I just love my solar lights.
Even though there were clouds, I still would go on a nice walk in the late afternoon. I can’t disappoint my dog and cats, right? Most of the time later in the afternoon the wind went down and even though just a little above freezing, it was nice to walk.
Freya got out a few days ago, and I had to redo a part of the rope where it was just too high and she sneaked underneath it. I came back from town and saw her grazing on the driveway. Lucky she won’t go far. Flicka was still in the pasture, watching Freya, wondering why her friend was so far away!
I put Flicka and Freya both in the summer pasture for the night, so I could check the fence the next morning. I found the spot where Freya went out. In fact she ‘told’ me where she got out. In her mane was a branch of spruce tangled. Hahaha!
I knew right away where she probably got out as I knew the rope was a bit high in that spot at the big spruce trees. So I lowered it and once done, I could put them back in there to graze.
Freya did get hurt by a branch, as her eye was a little swollen and she had a scratch on her left front leg.
But that was all fine again after 2 days.
One time, after walking the driveway, I went to check the fences of the horses new pasture. Just to see if everything was still ok. Scruffy didn’t go with me into the pasture. She is scared of the rope. So she waited for me on the driveway.
I didn’t come back the same way though, as I walked all around so I came back from the cabin. Scruffy was still laying on the driveway next to the little pasture, looking in the direction I went. Hahaha. I called her and called her, but she didn’t hear me. Only when Dizzy passed her, she got up and then saw me waving. Mean time the horses came running through the woods, thinking I called them. Hahaha. So funny.
When it was a chilly day, low temperatures and lots of nasty cold winds, I put up my backsplash in the kitchen. Of course the first time I did it wrong. I forgot to overlap. But as soon I noticed my mistake, I did it right. It’s not all perfectly straight, but I don’t mind it. It looks good to me. At least the wall won’t get wet again during dishes etc.
I also spend some more time on the big Mandela. I’m very happy with it so far. It’s very relaxing, but time consuming because it’s so big. But it is lots of fun to do.
This morning I finally could see the half moon with the planets. YAY! Clear sky! I was up at 4 am, and when I looked outside, I noticed first the amazing northern lights. They were awesome! And so wild too! They came and went really fast in the north west, and north east showed beautiful green parts. What a joy!
Then I noticed the moon and planets. Venus was left above the half moon, and Slight to the right above Venus was Mars. Far above on the right side of the moon was Jupiter. So lovely to watch.
And then a beautiful sunrise! It’s so nice to see sun again.
My solar lights are charging.
My sister was talking about her supper. She was making Hutspot, a Dutch meal, mashed potatoes, carrots and onions, best served with a nice smoked sausage.
Well, I got all the ingredients, so inspired by my sister (thanks sis), I started to cut up everything and it’s all done now, ready for tonight. Mmmmm!
