There was a day of pouring rain and it was funny to see a crow on a fence post , picking the cocoons of tent catapillars. In the rain! Well , crows don't have to worry to get hungry now , with thousands of cocoons around here. Hahaha.
After the rain and beautiful rainbow appeared. What a lovely colours! But near sunset it became very foggy and I couldn't see the end of the driveway anymore. But next morning it was bright and clear. The heavy rain took care of a lot of flies so it was great to go for walks. Everything smelled so nice and fresh. :)
So caterpillars are gone and the ticks are way less too. Lots of moths now though. But dragonflies are taking care of that plus the mosquitos.
My barn swallows are having their babies. They are still tiny so I didn't see their heads yet. But the parents are working so hard to feed them. I hope I can take some pictures soon of the babies being fed. It's so nice to be able to watch them from up close.
My gardens are doing so well. Even though some veggies never came up and others are spars, the beans , peas , corn , onions , celery, tomatoes, pumpkin and potatoes are doing great.
I'm very happy with everything that's growing.
Potatoes are getting flowers, as are the tomatoes. The pumpkins are getting fruits now too. Lots of peas and I already made a salad with lettuce , onion greens and spinach from the garden. So good!
In my flower garden I have lots blooming too. I put in different kinds of seeds that were pretty old but wow , it's growing and blooming!
The plants that come back every year are getting flowers too. I love all the different colours.
It's great for the bees too.
I finished a puzzle. It was very difficult but fun to do missed two pieces but I don't mind. Now I started another one. Also a challenge though!
Working with Yentl is going wonderful. Slowly she gets a hang on leading and we are also working on lifting up her foot.
I'm very happy with the progress. Especially since I had not much time to do sessions. Thanks to clicker training, the horse never forgets!
Sammy is doing great. She loves Scruffy , who seem to like her but not fit enough to play. We go on short walks when Scruffy goes with us. When it's just Sammy, I can go for nice long walks. Sammy listens good but still sees opportunities to chase my poor cats. So in the morning, I let the cats in the cabin for a few hours to cuddle and get some loving. They still hunt mice but drop them further away from the cabin. Then Sammy finds them. And play with the dead mice. Yuck. I do believe she tries catching mice herself too as she always hangs around the white shed and really walks up slowly. She's like a fox! Hahahaha. So that's great.
She loves purchase little trips to the well.
She's great in the truck.
I taught her now to fetch the tennis ball. She did fetch her squeaky toy but never the ball. Well , now she does. Clicker training works so well! But when I don't carry treats she will fetch maybe 2 or 3 times , but without food reward she will sit down and just looks at me like; are you seriously thinking I'm going to get that toy just for fun?? Hahaha.
Smart girl!
