On October 30 it was gorgeous weather. In the sun it came to 24 C! Not bad for this time of the year.
But then rain came, and it drizzled and poured for a few days. Then it was a cloudy day, and now there is snow.
The Fall in Saskatchewan can be very surprising.
I took my last vegetable out of the garden, Green Curly Kale, and got my potatoes out of the ground. Over 10 kilograms of potatoes so I’m good for a long time! Great harvest!
I prepared all gardens for winter. Put old leaves and peat moss on it and timing was good. Next day snow. Hahaha!
During the rainy days, I put lino on the floor of the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. It looks awesome! And so much easier to keep it clean. I’m glad this part is done. Last part to do is the living room area. I don’t go with laminate after all. I just love the lino because I can do that all by myself.
With less sunlight lately, my solar lights don’t charge so well. So I’m using battery operated lights in the evening and I can’t wait for the sun to come out.
But I do love my walks in this mild weather, when it’s dry. As do the cats and dog of course. The horses are doing well in their new pasture. I love to see them first thing in the morning when I look outside the window.
Last Friday night I went with Sheri to a ‘Grub & Game’ evening , organized by her church. I’m not religious, but it was nice to spend an evening with friendly people, enjoying great food and play a fun game of Scrabble. In fact, I enjoyed the game so much, that I even play it in the evening in the cabin as a kind of practice for my English. It’s fun, playing Scrabble with Me and Myself. Hahaha!
Especially when I win! Hahaha.
I also started to make a big Mandela. So much fun to do!
Yesterday I spend a day to cook some meals. I made Boerenkool, a Dutch dish, with fresh kale from the garden. Thanks Truus, for sending me the seeds in Spring. The results tasted wonderful!
I also made a big pot of vegetable stew/soup. It also tasted wonderful.
I spend lots of time outside yesterday, as it was such nice weather, even though cloudy. I spread out old straw in the big pasture. I hope in Spring it will give some Oat grass to thicken the grass in there.
It was a very busy but great week. Winter is coming close now.
I got a whole bunch of water bottles from David. Thanks David!
They will be used for sure!
