I got my new driveway entrance put in this week. It looks awesome! It’s wide enough for big trailers and of course the snow plough.
Also I have now another pasture for Spring time. The old driveway part that I don’t need to use now anymore, I will fence off for the horses. They will have a long stretch of grass there.
It took some patience, but the birds are coming into the yard now. I got lots of Blue Jays, Chickadees, Grosbeaks and Magpies flying in and out the bird feeders. Sometimes they all come at once and I love the different sounds of chirping and calls.
The weather is still nice. Had a dust of snow a few times and the temperatures are now below freezing day and night. But during the day it still is only minus 3 C and at night minus 9 C. Not bad at all! Now I just wish there was more sunshine, as it is cloudy the past few days. Not so good for my solar lights. Lucky I have battery operated lights. They lit up the cabin just fine.
I’m busy every day with cutting kindling, getting logs from the wood shed and bring them into the cabin, house chores and of course caring for the animals. The horses are doing great. This kind of weather is nothing to them. They have lots of food and water, and can shelter for the wind at night. But minus 9 C is nothing to them. Especially because we hardly had any wind lately. It’s pretty mild and I love it.
I’m outside a lot and the chickadees and Blue Jays aren’t scared for me to be around the yard. The Magpie and Grosbeaks are still not sure.
I can even cut my kindling, the chickadees don’t care about the noise of chopping wood. They are so cute!
Hunter loves to be in the cabin, but a few times now she asked to go outside. Great! It’s good for her. She plays in the snow and runs through the yard, and is one happy kitty.
Dizzy and Taz love to hang around the bales, and play hide and seek together. It’s fun to watch them. They still go with me on walks too. They don’t mind the snow, and the weather is really nice to go for a walk.
Evenings are calm and quiet. I read, listen to the radio and sometimes I watch on youtube a documentary or a funny comedian. I go to bed early and get up early. I’m always happy when it gets light. As soon I can see the yard, I go feed and water the horses. It’s so nice to spend time with them and listen to the early morning sounds.
It’s a good life and I love it.
