Friday was Ron's birthday. I know, not a reason to party but I can't let it just slip by.
Happy Birthday my love. Where ever you are. :-)
I had a chore list written down.
Top on my list was fixing the fence charger and charge the battery.
Second on the list was build a box around the fence charger and battery.
Third on my list was putting the last of the insulation underneath the floor and cover it with plastic.
Fourth on the list was covering the kitchen floor with osb sheets.
I can check everything off! YAY!
Friday was a perfect day to do all these things. It was a cool but nice day with hardly any wind which is great when you work with large pieces of tough plastic.
When I was building the box, Flicka was right on top of it of course. Freya watched from a distance at first, but then wanted to check it out from up close too. Flicka was offering her mouth for the syringe. That was SO cool! Clicker training is amazing. The horses remember so well what they are working on. I've heard from a horse that was clicker trained and then sold to another owner who did not clicker train. After seven years this horse came back again to the clicker trainer and it remembered still everything that was taught with clicker training even though the new owner never used the clicker or asked for the tasks that were learned with the clicker. Now that is really something. Proof that positive reinforcement works so great.
I had to make a fire this morning. It was only 8 C in the cabin while outside it was just 2 C. Within a half hour it got to a comfortable 15 C and I let it die off again.
I had my supper, some potato and egg salad with some bread and a hot chocolate. No wine. LOL I wanted to get some on my way to the acreage, but the store didn't open until 10 and it was just past 9. Didn't want to wait so tonight no wine with my supper. But that is ok. I got pumpkin pie later, so that made up for it. Hahaha!
I got some more things done today. I cleaned and tidied the cabin again to make space for the kitchen and bathroom counters I will get from Carol. I also made space under the cabin to store firewood. Sunday Carol and I will go and get a truckload of firewood. Good to have when it slowly gets to winter, even though we have wonderful weather lately. But it will get colder. No doubt about that.
I also took all the measurements for the shelves I will put into the divider walls of the bedroom and bathroom. I made a hat and glove shelve and a place underneath to hang up coats. It turned out really nice.
All the left over osb is great for shelves.
I can’t wait to put the shelves up in the bedroom. It’s so messy in there right now with all kinds of bags and buckets on the floor. Will be nice to have an empty floor and all things organized.
The cats enjoy their time inside the cabin. They are outdoor cats, but I’m sure if they could choose, they would love to be half outdoor and half indoor cats. LOL. When Dizzy comes inside after being outside in the frosty night, she wants only one thing: cuddling up on my lap and warm up. She is very persistent and if I’m on the computer or want to read....she keeps jumping on my lap and be ‘in the way’. Hahaha! So I give her some attention, cuddle with her, and after 10 minutes she is warmed up and leaves to find a spot on the top of the scaffold where it is also warm.
Taz already found her spot there. She always lays on my knee pad that lays there. LOL
When that scaffold goes, I will put some shelves up covered with some foam, just for them to sleep on.
Scruffy still likes to be in the dog house. Still very strange that after so many years she suddenly likes to be in there. But when I go in the cabin I call her and she will come in too. I always have a spot for her on the floor with two thick blankets. As soon she lays down she is out as a light and sleeps through the night. I wake her up later in the evening so she can go out for a pee. She goes out for a quick pee, a roll in the grass and then comes back in the cabin to sleep again. She also sleeps in in the morning! I get up, fire up the wood stove, make my coffee, feed the cats and let them out and Scruffy just sleeps on. She likes to get up and go out as soon I go outside.
She is such a funny dog.
