The beautiful early Spring is very nice but has a bad side to it. The tent catapillars are like an army of bugs, destroying the trees. Yesterday I suddenly noticed that all those nice new bright green leaves are gone! The catapillars ate them all!
I really hope that the trees will grow new leaves as it is still early in the season. If not , they could die.
The catapillars are looking for places to cocoon themselves and they cover my deck and one of the rainwater barrels. They start to cocoon in my new pea plants and beans plants! This means an extra chore: picking those bugs out of the plants are couple of times a day.
I can't wait for them to be gone. Never seen it this bad.
The hay garden is working! Potato plants are popping up now as also the corn I planted in the back of the potatoes. Onions love the hay garden. They're doing really good!
I put up bale twine for my pea plants to climb on. They are getting big now. Corn is growing great as are the broad beans.
Tomatoes and pumpkins are doing well too. I lost most of my cabbage and kale though. I seeded new kale and it's popping up. From the twelve pepper plants in started early spring only two are left. Mice or bugs got those. Too bad.
The gardens could have a good rain though. Until then I water them from the rain barrels. But nothing beats a good rainfall.
Working with Yentl is a lot of fun. I can slip the halter over her head now. Next step is to work on duration to stand and wait for me to buckle it up and take it off again. I'm very pleased with her progress , considering the time we spend on working on the halter.
Between my chores , gardening and working with the horses , I started puzzling again. I used to puzzle a little years ago. It is a lot of fun! Very relaxing. Sometimes I have to drag myself away from it otherwise I don't get anything else done. Hahaha! But I finished the first puzzle ever made in this cabin! :)
Last weekend I had a yard sale at my house in town. Got rid of some more things I don't use anymore. A yard sale is always fun because it gives the opportunity to talk with people and catch up with neighbors and friends .
:)
