I had another wonderful day at LPine Meadow.
When I drove up the driveway, I noticed that the new driveway entrance was almost done. YAY! I could see the road now. Ben came over later and told me he only had to remove a couple of trees. After he is done, another person with a backhoe will remove the stumps and even it out. It will be easier in winter. Less snow to remove as the driveway is much shorter with the entrance closer to the yard.
Trees are beginning to get their leaves. Now they have this light green haze and it is beautiful. We had some light rain the night before, and the grass in the yard and driveway is starting to grow fast now. Some more rain and sunlight after, will spurt it up more.
I heard the Hermit Trush bird calling! First time this year. It is such a beautiful and unusual sound. Like a bird from a jungle or something. Here is a link, to copy and paste in your browser, where you can listen to the call of this bird.

It’s amazing. The sound carries such a long way.
I loaded up some rakes in the back of the truck and drove up to the end of the little pasture. There is not much manure left, and I decided to rake up the manure, stamp it into smaller pieces with my feet and powder and spread it around with the rake. The pasture needs some fertilizer and I took out a lot of manure already. The wind helped to spread it far around. I worked for 3 hours, with some breaks between. Scruffy would keep watch near the truck. One time after a short break, I had to wake her up. After drinking some water she fell asleep on her blanket in the cabin. I know she wouldn’t like me to leave just like that, so I asked her if she wanted to go with me again, and right away she jumped up and ran out of the door. She wanted to go with me. Hahaha.
I got myself one of those bug screens, that you can hang up with pins or special tape that comes with it. I needed something for my bedroom. Just to keep cats and dog out when I sleep, but still something that will let the heat of the woodstove in. A screen is the best option. Within 10 minutes I had it up. This is a real neat door system. You just push it open, like walking into it and it opens up. Then it will close behind you with little magnetic strips. A no hand door! Very cool. I just hope the cats won’t figure out they can push it open. They are so smart! I know Scruffy won’t touch it. It also keep any flies and mosquitos out that might get into the cabin. So that will assure me of a good peaceful sleep during summer.
At home in town, I started seedlings and everything is growing great. This week I will take them all to the cabin. There is no night frost anymore and I hope with the warmer days, the cabin will stay warm enough at night for the young plants. I also put some sunflower seeds in pots and put them in front of the kitchen window of the cabin. I love sunflowers and this early start will make them bloom early. They are such happy flowers!
