Well, yesterday a crew of 3 men came to start on the roof. They didn’t had much done that you can really notice but the scaffold is set up, one rafter is up and the part that comes between rafter and wall is started. Tomorrow they are going to put the whole roof up. Which would be great because now my floor is exposed and they already had to cut the plastic underneath the floor to let the water out that was collecting there. The plastic will have to be redone once everything is enclosed. I’m not an expert but I wish they had covered the floor when done for the day, until everything was up, so it wouldn’t have been hit by rain. We’ll see what will happen.
Today I went to do some cleaning around the yard and in the 5th wheel. Of course Scruffy came with me and she enjoyed her time outside. But when I opened up the truck to clean out the back seat, where all kinds of stuff was collecting since winter, she jumped right in, ready to go home. LOL Silly dog. I asked her to get out so I could clean and it took some persuasion before she would lay down next to the truck, her eyes focused on the door. Hahaha! I got two bags of garbage out the 5th wheel and it looks much better in there now. I wiped everything off and swept the floor. It’s ready for the weekend.
My garden is growing amazing! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the potatoes popping up in both gardens, my carrots, beets and garlic sprouting, and the sunflowers has two leafs now. It’s so great! I also had planted my organic tomato plants. I will still see if I can get some cabbage plants. Mine don’t make it I think. Also have seeded some pumpkin and put the soaked sweet peas and Red Scarlet Runner beans in the gardens. The flowers will be so pretty and hopefully attract humming birds and butterflies.
I noticed something weird when I was cleaning up behind the shed. There were two gas Jerri cans. One empty and one partly filled. The last one had holes in it, like an animal bit it. Very strange. I’m thinking of putting out a motion camera, so I can see what is going on there when I’m not there. Could be very interesting! I took the other one home so it can be refilled for the generator.
Paul took the woodstove and with help of friends they got it unloaded and put in the garage. He was surprised how heavy it is. Next time I will take a better picture of the stove , after I cleaned the glass of the door. There is pieces of tree wood laying in the garage too, and it’s full of ants. I put an ant block there, with poison, that ants will take to their nest and hopefully it will help to get rid of them.
I went around the yard and collected all the pieces of wood that the crew had sawed off. I can use those pieces for arts. I put down a couple of garden ties on the ground next to the garage and levelled it as much as possible . It’s nice and sheltered there so a perfect spot for it. Then I stacked the wood on there and covered it with a tarp. I will have use for those pieces for sure.
While I was stacking the wood I smelled something really nice and sweet. Flowers! Flowers of a tree. No idea what the name is, but I LOOOOOVE that smell. I also discovered a wild flower. It looks like a lily but smaller. They are everywhere. So cool! Then I noticed that my lilies, that I planted 2 summers ago, were coming up. I thought I had lost them in the sandy soil. I suppose these Lilies grow anywhere. Hahaha! Which is good. I have lots more at home that I can replant here all around the yard. I really need to thin out the ones I have in the back yard at home. They give beautiful orange flowers.
I was planning to clean out the dog house for a while now, and today I got myself to actually do that. I screwed off the front with small opening, that we had put on so it would be a safe place for the cats. (the dog never liked it but the cats love it) The blanket was partly pulled out of the small opening and I pulled it all off and hang the blanket to air. It was blowing like crazy today, so it really aired. Then I discovered on the tick old couch pillow that was in there, a wasp nest. I was shocked and stepped back, looking for wasps around me, but nothing. I was very nervous though, so I took a temporary post and poked in the nest. But it was empty. Whew! I poked the whole nest off the pillow and smashed it, to make sure there was no larvae in there. There was nothing in it. It was from last Spring/Summer. I took the pillow out to air it also and cleaned out the dog house. Next time I will get it ready for the cats, so when they are here, they have their house back. I should have made a picture of that wasp nest but I was so nervous that I didn’t think of it. I don’t like wasps.
When I was all done with the tasks, I got Scruffy in the truck and left the yard. Then I saw the mole traps. Forgot to reset those! I left Scruffy in the truck with windows open. It was cool outside (10c)so that was fine with her. I looked for new places to put the traps. I did not catch one mole. I hardly see any new mole hills neither, but I do notice different kind of holes now. Not sure of what animal as I never see anything like a ground squirrel or gopher. So I have to find out what it can be and get traps for that. I did put the traps at those holes and will see what happen. Maybe I’m lucky and get one of them, so I know what to look for and what traps to use. I am glad I got so much done today. Now next time the lawn has to be mowed again. That rain we had made things grow like crazy. LOL
