First a little update about Scruffy.
She is doing really good. The infection is gone and Scruffy is feeling great. She runs and barks around the yard, goes on longer walks, eats and drinks well, and seems to be a totally happy dog again.
I called the vet yesterday, to cancel the surgery. We had it planned but if Scruffy would be good again, the vet rather didn’t do any surgery on her for now.
I’m so glad to have my happy dog again. She has spread out cancer, so she isn’t healthy. But right now she has no pain and is comfortable, which the vet and I agreed on that that would be the main thing with Scruffy. Keeping her comfortable and without pain.
When I went back to the cabin Monday, I came to the corner where I am close to my driveway entrance, and noticed one of the foxes that lives in a den on my land. It was just walking on the road, then looked at the truck, ignored it totally, went into the ditch to try to catch a mouse or something, and was completely relaxed with me being there, and even talking to him to hurry up a bit, so I could pass and drive home.
I thought this was very funny. So I made a video after I made some pictures. I had to drive very slow, as the fox wasn’t in a hurry, not even with me following him on its heels, with the camera in one hand sticking out of the window. Hahaha!
Only when Scruffy noticed the fox from her back seat, and started to bark, the fox ran off to the den. Here is a link to the video I made from the fox: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sobsWgQjtt0&feature=em-upload_owner
Wednesday I went to Regina to pick up siding for the cabin. Sheri drove me and took her horse trailer where the long pieces would fit in.
The siding looked great. Not a bad deal for 120 dollars for siding that will cover 700 square feet.
The seller had more coming and he said he would be able to get it delivered to Yorkton for me if I was interested. I said I was interested. For that price I don’t mind to get some extra to do the little shed I’m building.
Sheri and I went to do some shopping while we were in Regina. It was so nice to see the big stores with so much choice.
Sometimes we stop and have a break for a iced cappuccino and something to eat.
Going back we enjoyed a beautiful sunset. I made a picture but it isn’t as clear as it was in real.
When we got back near home, driving on the grid road in the dark, we saw a couple of deer and a baby deer. They all jumped over a fence in the ditch, but the baby couldn’t find a low spot to jump. It took a while, then finally it found one and hopped over to join mom and the others.
A little bit later Sheri had to stop to let a family of seven raccoons cross the road. Amazing! The last one that went into the ditch, stopped to look at us. So funny!
I took a bunch of potatoes out of the garden, dried them and put them away. Soon I will have to get everything out of the ground and prepare the gardens for winter.
I did lots of ‘manure meditation’ the last few days. I just spread it around, like harrowing by hand. The little pasture is almost done. Arena, small pen and the temporary grazing area are all finished.
Polly caught a little bird for me. She put it down for me and I picked it up. It was still alive so I put it high up the rain barrel that is covered and just left it there to rest and recover from the shock.
When I looked at it later, it was laying on its back. I felt sad it didn’t make it. I tried to pick it up to dispose from it, when it started to flap the wings real fast and off he went! Whew! He DID make it! YAY!. I was very happy. I always tell my cats, don’t catch birds. But cats are cats.
Hunter also catches birds. They even catch squirrels. But every day I have to clean up dead mice , voles and moles etc. So they also do the good work.
Here a video of me calling the horses in to go into the grazing area. Such a happy girls: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLKOyLXlG_w&feature=em-upload_owner
And here is a video where I worked again with Freya (and Flicka) on the agility curtain with clicker training of course.

It was really warm yesterday with 26 C in the afternoon, and I started with washing and scrubbing the vinyl siding. That is a lot of work. Wow. But it does look much better once cleaned. Of course it is used siding, so it won’t be as shiny as new siding. But I don’t care. I’m very happy with it. It will take another full water tank to wash the rest. I can’t wait for it to be done and hopefully it can be put up sometime soon.
It will look so nice!
