Last Tuesday the crew finally made a roof on my cabin. The plan was to work on Monday, but then got cancelled because of rain. Plan was then to work in the afternoon, which also got cancelled for unknown reasons. I did not see one drop of rain all day. But Tuesday the crew came out. Paul helped too and lots of work was done this day. The roof is up. Finally. Which is a good thing because I feared my floor would slowly rot away, with all the rain we had the last few weeks.
I wasn’t able to get to the cabin for a while. We had some rainy days, which is great for my gardens and I also worked with Carol for a few days, preparing for and holding an Equine Assisted Learning day for a group of 15 people that came to Ravenheart Farms for a team day.
It was a great success! My lovely horses Flicka and Freya did wonderful during and between the exercises with this great group. I was very proud of them, as I was also of Carols 5 horses. They all form a loving and gentle herd, with each their own fabulous unique character and talent to help people in their personal growth. Flicka was calm and gentle and volunteered for all exercises. She was totally into it and just loved being around the people. ( we always wait for the horses to come and volunteer as we don’t use any force to participate) I’m so grateful I’m able to work with and learn from Carol in this amazing Equine Assisted Learning and Coaching program.
Today Paul helped me to get more deck wood (we came short so had to pick up more) and also stair stringers and wood for the steps towards the deck. I also bought the OSB sheets for the exterior walls. After we got the deck and stair wood, we drove straight to the acreage where we unload everything.
I was happy to finally see the roof on my cabin. And the floor was dry! YAY! We set up the stair stringers and laid some of the planks on it to see how it looked. It looked great! These stairs are only temporary and will move later to the back door once I have build a deck there. I will make my front deck longer, but for now we will just put the stairs up there. They will be easy to move later to the back door. My gardens is growing like crazy, but again I noticed that critters have eaten from some of my plants. I suspect mice because no deer tracks around the garden. But the potatoes are looking fantastic! They got flower buds. YAY! I’m going to hill them with more garden soil so they will give lots of potatoes in the fall. I also have to thin out my carrots and red lettuce. The onions are growing so fast too and the tomatoes have fruit! It all looks just beautiful and I’m very happy.
