It’s the end of March. Still snow everywhere, but slowly melting. We had another cold snap. Of course. Hahaha! Part of this unbelievable long and cold winter so we just had to sit it out. Now it is warming up again and even though still freezing day and night, the sun is beautiful and strong. Many sunny days and my seedlings are growing so well. The small room with the window facing south is turned into a small green house. It is the most warm room in the house and maybe for that reason it all grows so well. I am slowly re-potting some of the little plants to give them more room for their roots to grow. The re-potting is fun to do and no problem. The problem is space. I had this little high table made of a key board stand with wood on top. Now I ran out of space with the new pots, so I put a wider and longer piece of wood on top of that so now it looks great and everything has a spot. But I am not done yet. Hm. What can I do? I need to improvise something, make another table. But there is not much space as it is a small room with one big lazy chair. Maybe that chair should go out of there so I have room for another table.
Anyway....my Tennesee Sweet Potato Squash is doing amazing. It survived the re-potting and just grows and grows. LOL My friend Carol gave me some of her organic pepper and pumpkin seeds and they are growing so well too! Have to re-pot the peppers soon. The flowers are doing so well too. Soon the Marygold and climbing vines will need bigger pots too. The flowers on those will be so pretty in the summer! The only seedlings that are looking a little poor are my onions. I will start them straight in the garden after the last frost and see if that will work. I have re-potted some of my curly green kale but still a lot left to re-pot. So much fun! I have still lots of seeds to start, the ones I want to do not too early. It’s nice to have a head start with the garden.
When the weather was really nice and above freezing, I spend time with the horses. I had a nice little ride with Flicka and did some agility with her and also with Freya. What a joy to be outside with the horses in just a hoodie and enjoying the warm sun. Just need to think of keeping my mouth closed when brushing the horses and with my back to the wind so I don’t swallow all those winter hairs. They are shedding so much, now the days are getting longer and longer. The colder days I spend with caring for the plants and the animals at home. Scruffy, our dog, really loves our now 15 week old kitten Dizzy. She is totally used to the dog now. Sometimes she wants to play to rough with Scruffy though, but overall she is pretty good. Dizzy is behaving not too bad for a young cat. She learns to listen to NO better and better. But of course she still has her wild moments and I always have to watch my back. She loves to jump on my shoulders to play with me. She has sharp nails so that is NO fun. Hahaha! I bought her some new cat toys to keep her busy and she loves them. It gives her lots of exercise and me a break. :-) Which I really need right now, as I'm suffering from a nasty cold. A present from my dear son. Hahaha! That's what kids bring home, right?
Oh well. Lots of fruits and extra vitamin C will hopefully help me to get over it soon. My second cold this winter. Let's hope it will be the last one.
