When I arrived at the cabin, it drizzled. I let the cats out and got things ready in the cabin to continue with the bedroom. Then it started to rain quiet a bit. The cats weren’t happy and neither was the dog. So I put the cats back in the trailer and the dog in the cabin. They were all very happy with that decision. LOL
I started with measuring and got 3 bigger leftover pieces of osb ready to be cut. Then I started the generator, but I got just back in the cabin, when it shut down. Out of gas. I should have checked it first. Oh well, no problem. I got gas in a jerry can so filled the generator up. Started it again and it was running just fine now.
I cut all the three boards and shut the generator off again. Now I started to screw the boards on, starting above the window and working my way to the corner. It all fitted just fine. Not perfect, but it will do. Meanwhile it was dried up outside and I had let the cats and dog outside again. I continued with the wall where the door is. Measure, cut and screw. It’s amazing where the bigger left over pieces are good for. I don’t like to waste any materials and was very happy this all worked out really good. I only had to cut one whole sheet for the biggest piece. It was later in the afternoon when I was finally done with the two walls. WOW. That was hard work. But it sure does look great! I’m very proud of my work. It’s not perfect, but hey....I’m not a carpenter. :-)
After I cleaned up the cabin I went to give my horses a little bit of apple pieces. I noticed their water got low, so I loaded up the bottles, let Scruffy in the truck and drove to the well. I was happy it rained. Now the grid roads aren’t so dusty. It was cloudy but still a nice drive. The fall colors are so beautiful. It was quiet at the well. That thing is really in the middle of nowhere even though it’s not even 10 minutes with the truck from my place. All around nothing else then farmers land and trees. Beside the dog, there were just birds. Little ones and big ones. I noticed a beautiful huge hawk flying by, no idea what kind it was, and a very small hawk that was flying really fast above the fields, hunting. It was so beautiful. I filled up all 9 bottles, and was done within 10 minutes.
When I arrived at the driveway, I saw a couple of cows grazing alongside the road. They are my neighbors and it happens often that they are on the road, crossing from one pasture to the other. I don't mind. I love cows, especially the calves. When I drove slowly into the driveway, they looked up for just a second and then continued to graze.
Back in the yard I filled up the water bowl of the horses. Flicka and Freya were right there, just to make sure I did it right. LOL The sun appeared and it felt really nice. The cats came running over and little Dizzy got very curious again towards the horses. She just stared at them while they were grazing near the fence. It was so cute to watch.
It’s amazing how fast the colors of the leafs are changing right now. It really gives the yard a ‘Fall’ look and I love it. When I was done with the water, I drove to the yard. The dog and cats were somewhere in the high grass and they didn’t noticed I left. When the cats did noticed, they came running to the yard very fast! Scruffy came later. She must have smelled a track of a deer or bunny, because she was gone for around ten minutes. It was another busy but very fulfilling day. I can’t wait to put the last wall up to enclose the bedroom and bathroom. A few more days!
